The southwestern willow flycatcher (Empidonax traillii extimus) is listed as an endangered species throughout its range in the southwestern United States.

In 1996, with the aid of a US Fish and Wildlife Service Stewardship Grant, a constructed wetlands was created by the owners of a Permaculture community off CR-101C in Jacona.

That same year it was declared a “WILDLIFE HABITAT, MANAGED BY THE OWNERS.”

The Wildlife Habitat is now at risk.
